Introducing Automated Dialing in GOAT Connect

Automated Dialing: the double dial, done for you. Ring, redial, move on, stay compliant.

The lead you call twice is the lead who picks up. Starting Wednesday, October 14 at 12:00 PM ET, the GOAT Connect power dialer inside GOAT CRM makes that second call for you, and it comes built into your GOAT CRM price.

The Short Version

  • Automated Dialing rings a lead, hangs up before voicemail, calls straight back, then moves to your next lead on its own.
  • One switch in the Dial Leads window turns it on. Turn it off and the dialer works exactly as it does today.
  • You set four things: attempts per lead, ring time, what happens at voicemail, and how many calls in a row.
  • The rules still hold: state call limits, your own limits and each lead's calling hours are checked before every call.
  • No extra cost: GOAT Connect's Automated Dialing comes with your GOAT CRM seat, not as an add-on.

Every agent knows the trick: call once, get voicemail, hang up, and call right back. A second call from the same number tells people it matters, and they pick up. It's called the double dial, and it works. Doing it by hand, lead after lead, wears you out.

Now the dialer does it for you. Pick your leads, flip one switch, and spend your time talking to people instead of punching in numbers.

"We are excited about offering a dialer that does not cost agents extra money. It comes built into our CRM price. It will make it easier for agents to reach and close more leads!"

— Michael Pfeil, President & Co-Founder, GOAT Leads

What Automated Dialing Does

Automated Dialing calls a lead, hangs up before voicemail, calls straight back, and then moves to your next lead without you touching a thing.

  1. The dialer rings your lead for the ring time you chose.
  2. No answer? It hangs up and calls the same lead again, up to the number of retries you set.
  3. If they pick up on any call, you're connected and the dialer stops calling that lead.
  4. Still no answer? It moves on to the next lead in your list.

You stay in control the whole time. Turn it off and the dialer works exactly the way it always has.

How to Turn It On

It takes four clicks to start.

  1. Go to Leads and tick the leads you want to call.
  2. Click Actions → Dial Leads.
  3. In the Dial Leads window, flip on the Automated Dialing switch.
  4. Pick your settings and click Start Dialing.

The dialer remembers your choices from your last session, so you only set them once. Every setting has an ⓘ. Hover over it any time for a quick reminder of what it does.

Four Settings, Set Once

Four settings decide how hard the dialer works each lead. The defaults are a good place to start.

SettingChoicesWhat it does
Attempts per lead1–6 (default 3)The most times one lead is called in a session, counting every redial.
Ring time20, 25 or 30 seconds (default 20)How long each call rings before the dialer hangs up, about 3–4 rings at 20 seconds.
When voicemail answersHang up and redial, leave your greeting, or let it playWhat happens when the dialer detects voicemail.
Retries1 up to your attempts (default 3)How many times in a row the dialer calls the same lead before moving on.

Here's how they work together. With Retries set to 2 and Attempts set to 4, lead A gets two calls back to back. Once every other lead has had its turn and at least 30 minutes have passed, A gets two more calls, for 4 in the session.

When Voicemail Answers, You Choose

You decide what happens when the dialer reaches a voicemail box.

  • Hang up and redial (the default). The dialer hangs up as soon as it detects voicemail and calls back while you have retries left. This is the double dial.
  • Leave my voicemail greeting. Your recorded greeting plays after the beep, but only on the last call to that lead. That's one message per lead, never a pile of them. No greeting yet? A Record a greeting button shows up right under the choices.
  • Let it play (I decide). You're connected to the voicemail and choose what to do. If you hang up without picking an outcome, the lead stays in your list to try later.

One honest note: voicemail detection is very good but not perfect. Once in a while, a real person who answers with a quick "Hello?" can be mistaken for voicemail.

Built to Play by the Rules

Automated Dialing calls faster, but it never skips the rules that protect you and your leads.

  • Call limits still apply. State limits (for example, Maryland allows 3 calls to a lead in 24 hours), your own per-lead limits under Settings → Dialer, and each lead's calling hours are checked before every call. If a redial isn't allowed, the dialer moves on to the next lead.
  • Every call rings long enough. The law requires at least 15 seconds of ringing, so the shortest ring time is 20 seconds.
  • One line at a time. Automated Dialing works when you dial one line at a time.
  • It works alongside "Retry no-answers later." That option schedules callbacks hours or days later. Automated Dialing calls back right away. You can use both.

FAQ

Does Automated Dialing cost extra?

No. Automated Dialing is part of the GOAT Connect power dialer and comes built into your GOAT CRM price. There is nothing to add or switch on in billing.

Will it call my leads too many times?

No. State call limits, your own per-lead limits under Settings → Dialer, and each lead's calling hours are checked before every call, including every redial. If a call isn't allowed, the dialer skips it and moves on.

What if I don't have a voicemail greeting yet?

Choose Leave my voicemail greeting and a Record a greeting button appears right under the choices. Record it once and it plays on the last call to each lead.

Can a real person be mistaken for voicemail?

Occasionally. Voicemail detection is very good but not perfect, and a short "Hello?" can read as a machine. If that worries you, choose Let it play and decide each time yourself.

Does it work with multi-line dialing?

No. Automated Dialing works when you dial one line at a time.

How is this different from Retry no-answers later?

Retry no-answers later schedules callbacks hours or days after your session. Automated Dialing calls back right away, inside the session. You can turn on both.

Can I turn it off?

Yes, any time. Flip the switch off in the Dial Leads window and the dialer works exactly as it did before.
